60 Years on the Road
America’s Corvette craze began during the
summer of 1953.
Only months after the public raved about the roadster’s prototype
at the General Motors 1953 Motorama show (click to view),
the first production model rolled off the assembly line in June.
Considered the first American sports car, the Corvette revved up
the demand for faster, flashier automobiles.
