Health Insurance Update

Dear SCREA members:

     Our Fall Luncheon was held at Avinos in Bellport with  40 members in attendance.


     At this year’s Fall Luncheon Marv Loewen presented the following Healthcare Update:

   1. The consortium voted to increase premium by 2 1/2 %, effective 7/1.

   2.  Any provider in UHC will now cover $2500 per ear for hearing aids. This is provided every 3 years. Lost hearing aids will have to be replaced at your expense during those 3 years

   3.  The no surprise act was passed which states that if you use the services of an out of network doctor and their charges are not covered or only partially, UHC and provider must enter negotiations to settle cost of non-providing doctor.

   4.  UHC will be providing coverage for Diabetic’s who utilize device connected to body for reading of blood sugar levels.


   5.  Letters are being received by some members indicating that their office in no longer accepting United Health Care. Our plan is United Healthcare Choice Plus. Be sure to provide the full name  United Healthcare Choice Plus as your secondary carrier.


     Marv also announced his retirement as our representative on the UHC Consortium, effective at the end of his current term.

     Marv has been invaluable representing our retirees and within his informative healthcare updates! We thank you Marv for all the time serving us and for wisdom you have shared over the past 30 years. Thank you and enjoy some free time but come back for the luncheons!!!!

     SCREA is celebrating its 25th Anniversary. SCREA organized by the best to serve the best!

     We ask for your continued support of this worthy organization with your yearly dues payment to fund SCREA daily expenses, printed newsletters, the SCREA website and informational emails.

     SCREA also asks for your continued support of our scholarship program, which awards three scholarships each year in honor of our recently departed members, with an additional donation.
