A number of children suffered
lacerations and abrasions when the
school bus they were riding swerved
and overturned on Oregon Avenue,
Medford, after being in a collision
with a New York Telephone Company
truck Tuesday afternoon. Two of the
41 children aboard were hospitalized
overnight and the rest were treated and released.
Mary Rohrbacher, daughter of
the Rev. and Mrs. P.A. Rohrbacher
of Monroe Avenue, Patchogue, has
been named to the Faculty Honors
List at Southampton College. Miss
Rohrbacher is a member of the Class
of 1975 at Southampton College.
Married on Saturday were Mr. and
Mrs. William Fiermonti. The bride is
the former Miss Barbara Ann Zeidler
of Patchogue. Following a reception at
Felice’s of Patchogue, the couple took
a two-week wedding trip to Florida and
the Bahamas, and will reside in Port
Jefferson Station upon their return.
Harriet Rosenberg and Steve Burton,
students at Patchogue-Medford High
School, were selected by the Patchogue
Elks Club as outstanding citizens and
members of the community.
Navy Sonar Technician Second
Class Steven A. Trypuc, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Vincent J. Trypuc of Lee Avenue,
Patchogue, and whose wife Pamela
is the daughter of Mrs. Edith Mistler
of Barton Avenue, is a crewmember
of the newly commissioned nuclearpowered
guided missile frigate USS
California, homeported at the naval
station in Norfolk, Va. The California
is equipped with the most advanced
sonar and antisubmarine weapons.
A former student at Patchogue High
School, he joined the Navy in March 1967.
The Raider Hoopsters of Patchogue
High School pulled together as a team
to make the season great. Members
include Mike Ambrosio, Leroy Felton,
Terry Campbell, Pat McKenna, Jim
Nicolosi, Rich Densing, Dave Rockett,
Sean Adams, Marty Schwartz, Ken
Waszmer, Bill Thieben, Al Willett, Tom
Baum, Brian Hawkins and Gordon James.
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Cicalese of
Munsell Road, East Patchogue,
announce the arrival of a baby girl,
Diana, on Feb. 23. The Cicaleses
have four other children, Raymond,
Lorraine, Doreen and Susan.
Mrs. Lisa Travis of Provost Avenue,
Bellport, spent a recent weekend at
Fredonia College, where she attended
the trombone recital of her son, Teddy.
Teddy is a double major of trombone
and voice and has been accepted to
Vienna Conservatory for voice training
in September. Joy Travis has been
accepted at Fredonia as a flute major.
Mrs. Andrew Olsen of Station Road
spent wo days last week at the home of
her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. E.E. Testa of Rockville Centre,
who were celebrating their 39th
wedding anniversary.
Jon Rossi, of Jon Rossi Studios
of Circuit Road, has been invited
by Raymond Weeks, manager of the
Patchogue Theatre, to display his
prizewinning photographs at the theatre.

from a 10-day skiing trip at Watertown, N.Y.
Thomas Wilson of Country Club Road
was elected to Pi Alpha Sigma honor
society at Suffolk County Community College.
Denise Zukowski, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Zukowski of Pine
Drive, Brookhaven, recently celebrated
her 11th birthday by taking friends to
the Hampton Bays Roller Rink.
Mr. and Mrs. R.J. Richmond of
Roslyn Heights have announced the
engagement of their daughter, Diane
Kathleen, to Gary Bayford Zanazzi,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank B. Zanazzi
of Brookhaven. Miss Richmond is
completing her senior year at Russell
Sage College, Troy, N.Y., where she will
receive her B.S. degree as a nursing
major. Mr. Zanazzi, also a senior, is
attending Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute in Troy, majoring in
management engineering.
Susan David, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald David of Locust Drive,
celebrated her 8th birthday recently
with a dinner and pajama party. The

The Class of 1974 at Patchogue-
Medford High School is hard at work
preparing for its senior show, “The
Music Man.” The cast consists of 94
members of the senior class, including
John Palumbo, Larry Friedel, Frank
Clampet, Seth Madell, Paul Schlueter,
Joe Silhan, Paul Regina, Bob Dominguez,
John Theune, Kevin Carpenter, Neil
Feinberg, Mike Judelson and Brian Cristler.
First Lieut. Thomas R. Liebermann, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Liebermann
of Jayne Avenue, Patchogue, has
completed requirements for a master’s
degree in business administration at
Syracuse University. A 1965 graduate of
Patchogue High School, the lieutenant
received his bachelor’s degree in
economics from Georgetown University.
He was commissioned in 1970 upon
completion of Officer’s Training
School at Lackland AFB, Texas. He has
returned to McGuire AFB, N.J., for duty as a pilot.
The county championship has again
been won by the Patchogue-Medford
girls bowling team. Coached by Paula
Lindsay, the team consists of Paula
McKeon, Ellyn McKeon, Berta Weidlich,
Mindy Knoth and Debbie Sanborn.
Mr. and Mrs. Julius Cicci of North
Prospect Avenue, Patchogue, announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Eleana, to John Honovich, son of Mr.
and Mrs. John Honovich of Hastingson-
Hudson, N.Y. Eleana is a graduate of
Patchogue High School and is currently
completing her senior year at Northern
Illinois University. John is attending the
State University of New York at Albany
and will graduate in May. No date has
been set for the wedding.
Marine Private John L. Halford Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Halford of Cedar
Avenue, Patchogue, has completed the
Communication Center Man course at
the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Camp
LeJeune, N.C. Communication center
men operate teletypewriters, including
the acceptance, logging, preparation,
transmission, receipt and delivery of messages.
Miss Camille Ivero, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ivero of Pilgrim
Avenue, East Patchogue, has been
named to the Dean’s List at Mount Saint
Mary College for the fall semester, 1973.
Miss Ivero is a 1973 graduate of Seton
Hall High School, Patchogue.
Sandra Temple, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Temple of Fairway Drive,
Bellport, celebrated her birthday on
March 6 with a party in her honor.

Erik Bergskaug, son of Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Potter of Rogers
Avenue returned home on Sunday
following a 10-week trip to Florida,
Guatemala and El Salvador, Central America.
The Bellport Fire Department
held their annual dinner at Felice’s
in Patchogue on March 9. Members
of the dinner committee were the
chief, Chester Arthur; first assistant,
Dick Harrow; second assistant, Robert
Edwards; and Robert Wayte, Edward
Bishop and Larry Fuller.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Williams of South
Country Road went to the Metropolitan
Opera House in New York City on
Monday to see the opera, “Les Troyens.”
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur J. Newton of East
Patchogue announce the engagement
of their daughter, Barbara, to Robert E.
Wayte Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Wayte of Bellport. Both are graduates
of Bellport High School. The brideto-
be is employed by Oak Hollow
Nursing Center in Middle Island. Her
fiancé is employed by Suffolk County
Department of Public Works in
Yaphank. No date has been set for the wedding.

Cabot’s Florist, at 180 East Main
Street, is Patchogue’s newest business
enterprise, and had an auspicious
debut Saturday in the form of a formal
tape-cutting. Taking part were Alfred
Chiuchiolo, chamber of commerce
president; Edward Mitchell, chamber of
commerce executive secretary; Mayor
Robert T. Waldbauer; Mrs. Elizabeth
Carmichael, proprietor, and Ernest
Bonati, owner of the building.
Patchogue service clubs Tuesday
night paid special tribute to Fil Ballin,
honoring him with their “Share
Your Life” award, sponsored each
year by the Kiwanis, Rotary and
Lions clubs of Patchogue. Mr. Ballin,
a resident of Bellport, was named
“Mr. Toastmaster” by the Patchogue
Chamber of Commerce in 1972.
Mr. and Mrs. William C. Corley of
Potter Street, Patchogue, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Patricia
Ann, to Bruce D. Henthorn, of Northfork,
W. Va. Miss Corley is a graduate of
Patchogue High School and Concord
College, West Virginia, and is currently
teaching physical education in West
Virginia. Mr. Henthorn is a graduate of
Northfork High School and is presently
a senior majoring in physical education
at Concord College. The wedding is set
for Aug. 17 at St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church, Patchogue.
Navy Fireman Recruit Ernest S.
Sorady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest
Sorady of Kane Avenue, Medford, has
graduated from recruit training at the
Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill.
A 1973 graduate of Patchogue-Medford
High School, he is scheduled to report
to Boiler Technician “A” School in Great Lakes.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Kan of Circuit
Road, Bellport, entertained on Sunday
at an engagement party given in honor
of their son, Alan Kan, and Miss Ilene
Danzinger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Saul Danzinger of Patchogue. The
party was held at the Kan home for 74
relatives and friends. Alan and Ilene
are planning an August wedding.
Miss Julie Bergin, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward J. Bergin of Thornhedge
Road, Bellport, is home for a week from
Cortland University, N.Y.
“Kiss Me Kate” will open next Friday
at Bellport Senior High School. Male
leads are Scott Munson as Fred Graham
and John Sailor as Bill Calhoun.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Paige of Gerard
Street were honored at a party given
in honor of their 13th wedding
anniversary at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Harvey McChesney of Bellport Lane.
Paul Fein of Academy Lane held a
singing recital on Sunday afternoon for
Miss Linda McChesney.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Strier of
Guilford, N.Y., were weekend guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Perino of North
Howells Point Road.
Michael Tebaldi of McDonald Avenue
was surprised at a birthday party given
in his honor by Miss Diana Rene of
Maple Avenue. Thirty of Michael’s
friends attended the party Friday
evening at the Rene home.

The annual installation dinner
of the Patchogue Civic and Garden
Club was held recently at the 112
Lounge. Officers elected were: Rachel
Chaskin, president; Veronica DeCarlo,
vice president; Florence Miller,
corresponding secretary; Jean Morton,
treasurer, and Phyllis Ricchi, recording
secretary. Hilda Edelstein is retiring president.
The Patchogue-Medford Schools
were represented by 13-year-old John
Conti from Saxton Street Middle
School at the Long Island Spelling Bee
Championship recently. John placed
15th out of the 40 champion spellers
and remained on stage for two hours
in stiff competition. The words that
John spelled were: atwitter, cactus,
dirigible, whew, beautician, goad,
numb, rigorous, override, menthol,
maladjustment. He unfortunately
missed the word delinquency. John
received an engraved plaque, an
almanac and a pen and pencil set for his efforts.
JoAnn Arabia, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Arabia of Patchogue, was
guest of honor at a Sweet 16 dinner party
held recently. Approximately 50 guests
attended, including her grandmothers,
Mrs. Carmella Cardamone and Mrs. Mary Arabia.
Jacqueline and Jill Kirmish, twin
daughters of Mr. and Mrs. John
Kirmish, celebrated their 3rd birthdays
recently by taking friends to the Bay
Shore Roller Rink.
Anne Todd, a student at Canaan Lake
Elementary School, and Greg Keiffert,
a student at River Avenue Elementary
School, will be part of the cast of “The
Music Man,” being presented by the
Class of 1974 of Patchogue-Medford
High School. The two students were
chosen for the parts after an audition
open to all elementary schools in the
district. Greg’s part had to be able to
sing and Anne’s part had to know how
to play the piano.
Helen Ann Green, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Green of Cherry Lane,
East Patchogue, has been named to the
Dean’s List at St. Joseph’s College in
Brentwood for the fall semester, 1973-74.
Donna Minardi, secretary-treasurer
of Bellport High School Class of 1973,
recently presented a class gift of a
new high school flag to replace the old
school flag. It will be used at assemblies
and other ceremonial occasions.
The Ruth AME Zion Church senior
choir announced the winners of their
recent raffle. The winner of the toaster
was Ms. Maureen McQuain of Center
Moriches, winner of the Huntington
iron was Donald Christison and winner
of the hand mixer was Ms. Margaret Fonville of Bellport.
Alan Sparrow, who is a teacher at
the Harley School in Rochester, N.Y.,
is spending the week with his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Sparrow of Leisurely Lane.
