For Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gunstone of
Rowland Street, Patchogue, their 48th
wedding anniversary was a double joy. On
the very same day of their anniversary,
their granddaughter, Carolyn Marie Mannion,
was confirmed in St. Paul’s Episcopal
Church, Patchogue.
Private Robert Mistretta, 18, son of
Salvatore Mistretta of Schoenfeld
Boulevard, Patchogue, completed nine
weeks of advanced individual training at
the U.S. Army Infantry Training Center,
Fort Polk, La. He received general training
as a light weapons infantryman.
William John Brown, son of Mr. and
Mrs. William Brown of Patricia Lane,
Patchogue, was awarded the Bachelor of
Arts degree by Southampton College, a
center of Long Island University.
A 40th wedding anniversary celebration
was held for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Venero Sr.
of Cleveland Street, Patchogue, on June
9 at Felice’s of Patchogue. The reception
was given by their sons, Frank Jr. and
Jimmy. Attending were many relatives
and friends, including four grandchildren.
Seven area residents have been named
to the Dean’s List at C.W. Post Center
of Long Island University for the spring
semester: Sheryl A. Wolff, Steven Rehman,
Michael S. Slotchen, Sarah Scala, Michael Rode,
all Patchogue; and Richard B. Siegel, East Patchogue.
The Patchogue Fishing Club’s annual
Weakfish Derby was held recently with
the following winners: Fred Fraccelvieri, 9
pounds, 15 ounces, first place; Tony Kevel,
7 pounds, 8 ounces, second place; Anthony
Rizzo Sr., 7 pounds, 8 ounces, third. William
Rockwell, fishing Swan River, caught a
6-pound, 1-ounce brown trout, 24½ inches
long. He and his friends have caught many
good-sized trout in this brackish water in the past.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Stephani of Lenox
Avenue, East Patchogue, entertained at
their annual Fourth of July party for the
Stephani family and friends. Gordon Cole
showed old family movies after the family
returned from viewing the fireworks in Bellport.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Warner and family of
Second Street returned home after a week
visiting Mrs. Warner’s sister and brotherin-
law, Mr. and Mrs. George Mulderig and
family of Newark, Del. They attended
the graduation and farewell of Miss Lou
Ann Mulderig, who left on June 25 for
Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
The Bellport Little League recently
held the drawing on their chance books.
The lucky winners were: Ralph Maust
of Brookhaven, color TV; Cheryl Hodge
of Shirley, 10-speed bike; Stan Brett of
Brightwaters, cassette; F.G. Walsh of
Medford, $25 savings bond. Gerald Palmer
received a baseball mitt for selling the
most chance books.
Mr. and Mrs. George Seyfert and children,
Linda and George of George Court,
returned home after a one-week camping
trip to Quebec, Canada. They camped at
Plainfield, Vt., over the holiday weekend.
The following local students graduated
from Mercy High School in Riverhead on
June 9: Miss Peggy Ann Wilson of Country
Club Road; Miss Marianne Fuchs of Country
Club Road; Miss Susan Long of Colonial
Lane, and Miss Ann Quinn of Bellhaven Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cornacchiulo, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph DeMaio and Mr. and Mrs. Anthony
Tutino, all of Country Greens Drive, attended
the performance of “Grease” held at the
Theatre Royal in New York City. Following
the play, they dined at the Proof of the
Pudding restaurant in New York City.
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Thorndike and
daughter, Peggy, of South Howells Point
Road, returned home after spending 10
months in Geneva, Switzerland.
Playing at the Gateway Playhouse,
Bellport, from July 10-28, the new 1925
musical hit, “No, No, Nanette.” At the

Mrs. Grace Karstendick of Patchogue
was the winner of $100 awarded during
Carnival Days sponsored by the
Merchants Division of the Patchogue
Chamber of Commerce. Marvin Krauss,
chairman of the Merchants Division,
pulled the winning entry from the
thousands that were submitted.
Pfc. Marine David Johnsen, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Gil Johnsen of Amity
Street, Patchogue, has graduated from
the electronics maintenance course at
Camp Lejeune, N.C. Johnsen will be
assigned to the Marine Corps Air Wing
at New River, N.C. He is a 1973 graduate
of Patchogue-Medford High School.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack E. Smith of North
Patchogue announce the engagement
of their daughter, Gail, to Steven Fink,
son of Mr. and Mrs. David Fink of
Patchogue. The future bride is in her
third year at the Catholic Medical
Center School of Nursing in Jamaica.
The couple are graduates of Patchogue
High School and plan their wedding for
September 1975.
Paul Iasevoli of Jones Court,
Patchogue, was among the incoming
freshmen in the college of science and
humanities at Iowa State University
who attended orientation meetings on
the campus recently in Ames, Iowa.
On June 29, Miss Andrea Loizides,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore
Loizides of Dogwood Lane, Patchogue,
was married to Michael F. Hartmann,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hartmann
of Roslyn Court, Patchogue, in St.
John’s Greek Orthodox Church, Blue
Point. Maid of honor was Miss Carol
Hartmann, the groom’s sister, and
best man was Theodore Kalivas. The
bride and groom are both graduates of
Patchogue High School, class of 1970.
Marine Pfc. John L. Halford, son of
Mr. and Mrs. John Halford of Cedar
Avenue, Patchogue, participated in
“Solid Shield 74,” the only annual
Atlantic command exercise which
includes forces from all U.S. armed
services. Halford serves with the Force
Troops, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic.
Joseph Cerruto of Patchogue, a
liberal arts major at Sullivan County
Community College, has been named to
the Dean’s List for the spring semester.
Miss Suzanne Marie Smalling,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schanel
of Patchogue, became the bride of
Philip Francis Lindner Jr., son of Mr.
and Mrs. Philip Lindner of Patchogue,
on June 1. The bride is a 1971 graduate
of Patchogue High School and a 1973
graduate of Suffolk Community
College with an AAS in police science.
She also attended Brockport State
University and majored in sociology.
The groom is a 1966 graduate of
Patchogue High School and is a selfemployed
commercial fisherman.
Paula and Eric Russo, daughter
and son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Russo of South Country Road, East
Patchogue, served as coordinators of
Parents Weekend held recently at The
Catholic University, Washington, D.C.
Eric, a student in American history
at CU and chairman of the Parents
Weekend committee, was responsible
for coordinating all program activities,
which included an address by Sen.
Joseph R. Biden (D-Del.). Paula is a
nursing major and is active in the
residence hall student government.
Spending two weeks with Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Perry of Country Club Road,
Bellport, and Mr. and Mrs. George
Perry of Patchogue is George Zanfino
of Las Vegas, Nev.
Dennine Boyle, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Steven Boyle of Country
Greens Drive, celebrated her birthday
on July 9 with a pool and barbecue
party. Helping Dennine celebrate
her 7th birthday were Nicole Emma,
Susan Cicalese, Colleen McCann,
Jean Marie Barone, Laura Bagnoli,
Babbette Hanlon, Colleen Peeling,
Janet Flanagan, Sharon Harris, Frank
and Patty Cornacchiulo, Peter Ashfield
and Kim Smith.
Visiting this week at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Guy Fein of Academy Lane
were Mr. Fein’s brother and sisterin-
law, M. and Mme. Richard Fein of
Paris, France. M. Fein is a director
of documentary films for the French
National Television Network. Mme.
Fein is associated with Pierre Cardin,
the noted couturier.
Jamie Watson, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Dick Watson of Beaver Dam Road,
Brookhaven, celebrated his 10th
birthday recently. The following boys
helped Jamie celebrate: Jeffrey Jacobs,
Peter Volteman, Kevin Watkins, Ben
Pieierlf, Steven Rowley, Andrew Kelly,
and Jay, Philip and Gavin Watson.
Miss Yvonne Herzog, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald C. Herzog of
Brookhaven, has been accepted for
admission to Ladycliff College in
Highland Falls, N.Y. A June graduate
of Bellport High School, she plans to
begin her studies in history at Ladycliff in the fall.

Russell Bradt, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Newey Bradt of Silver Street,
Patchogue, has been named an
outstanding secondary educator
for 1974 by the board of advisors of
Outstanding Secondary Educators
of America. He is a graduate of
Patchogue-Medford High School and
received his Bachelor of Science
and master’s degree from Eastern
Kentucky University. He currently
teaches industrial arts in Winchester,
Ky.
Al Willett of Patchogue was one
of three players in the entire Long
Island and New York State Connie
Mack League chosen to accompany
the champion Brentwood team to the
Connie Mack World Series in Waltham,
Mass. Dale Hoaglan of Mastic Beach
and Tony Crump of Riverhead were
the other two. They were chosen on
the basis of their athletic ability and
accomplishments throughout the high
school and Connie Mack levels of
competition.
Miss Barbara Jean Zelenski, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander Zelenski
of Maple Avenue, Patchogue, became
the bride of Daniel Thomas Gaber,
son of Mr. and Mrs. George Gaber of
Acorn Avenue, Medford, July 7 at the
Congregational Church of Patchogue.
Coast Guard Boatswain’s Mate Third
Class Warren H. Knatz, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Knatz of Patricia Lane,
Patchogue, has been promoted to his
present rank at the Coast Guard station
in Fort Tilden, N.Y.
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Ehrhardt of
Patchogue celebrated the christening
of their daughter, Katheryn Anne, at
St. Sylvester’s R.C. Church, Medford,
July 14, with an outdoor buffet at their
home for 50 guests.
Theodore Travis of Provost Avenue,
Bellport, was among the 25 members
of the Fredonia Collegiate Chorale who
left Tuesday for a three-week concert
tour of Romania. Mr. Travis is a senior
at the college.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Rueger of
Academy Lane held a luau party on
Friday night for 11 members of the
Gourmet Club they belong to.
Kevin Lockwood, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Lockwood of General McLean
Drive, celebrated his 17th birthday
with a pool party in his honor. Helping
him to celebrate were Peter and Dennis
DiDio, Frank Zambella, Pattie and
Chester Arthur, Larry Satterley, Joanne
Terwilliger, Ellen Hawkins, Bruce Bell,
Perry Waite, Dawn and Douglas Harrow,
Denise Clemens, Mr. and Mrs. Robert

Tia Marie Fuoco, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. James Fuoco of Association Road,
celebrated her 2nd birthday on Sunday
with a party given in her honor at the
home of her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Tony Fuoco of Fuoco Street.
Billy Bissell, son of Dr. and Mrs.
William Bissell, is spending one week
in Iceland, four weeks in Stockholm,
Sweden, and one week in Copenhagen,
Denmark. While in Stockholm, Billy
will be visiting with Per Ekstrom, the
exchange student who was here during
the past year.
George T. Lanmann of Hulse Street,
Bellport, has graduated with a Bachelor
of Arts in the College of Liberal Arts at
Northeastern University.
Mr. and Mrs. John H. Hertlein of
Country Club Road, Bellport, announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Lorraine Mae, to Barry Gatta, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gatta of Wading
River. Miss Hertlein is a graduate of
Bellport High School and the Wilfred
Academy Beauty School, Patchogue.
Mr. Gatta attended Patchogue-Medford
High School and graduated from
Denver High School, Colo. Both are
employed by Iverson Cycle Corp. of
Medford. No date has been set for the
wedding.
Marine Private David G. Nemschick,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Nemschick
of Old Medford Avenue, Medford,
graduated July 15 from Marine Recruit
Depot, Parris Island, S.C., where he
completed 13 weeks of basic training.
Nemschick will report to Palm Springs,
Calif., for 36 weeks of specialized
schooling in the field of electronics.
He is a 1972 graduate of Patchogue-
Medford High School.

State University College at Oneonta
for the spring semester of the 1973-74
school year. Included are: Josephine
Bono, Union Avenue, East Patchogue;
Stephen Dinovis, Orchard Road, East
Patchogue; Leonard Eppig, Andreano
Avenue, East Patchogue; Patricia
Gillen, Clinton Avenue, Mastic, and
Deborah Leone, Lakeland Avenue,
Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Hahn of
Oak Street, Patchogue, announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Roseann, to Howard James Engle Jr.,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Howard James
Engle of Holbrook Street, North
Patchogue. Both are graduates of
Patchogue-Medford High School.
Mr. Engle is employed by Kings Park
State Hospital. Miss Hahn works for
Finast Supermarket in Patchogue. The
wedding is planned for June 1975.
John Kienzle, son of Mrs. Florence
Kienzle of Chestnut Avenue,
Patchogue, has received a special New
York State Education Department
mini-grant to run a four-week mediaradio
workshop this summer. It
will prepare students to work with
educational TV equipment and to take
an FCC amateur license for radio. Mr.
Kienzle is chief media technician for
Schodack Central Schools, Castleton,
N.Y., and a graduate of Patchogue High
School.
Vincent Lettieri of East Patchogue
recently received his bachelor’s degree
during commencement exercises at the
University of Montana in Missoula.
Mr. Lettieri majored in business
administration.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cicalese
and their children, Patrick, Elena
and Frankie, of Munsell Road, East
Patchogue, have returned home after
spending four days at the LaConcha
Hotel in Atlantic City, N.J.
Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Carroll of
Dunton Avenue are proud to announce
the arrival of their first child, David
Allan, on July 8 at Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital.
George E. Wilson of Huntington is
spending three weeks visiting his aunt
and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. George Mistler
of Woodland Park Road, Bellport.
Last Friday night Mrs. Charles
Edwards, Mrs. Malcolm Johnson and
Mrs. Andrew Olsen visited Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond MacLean of Southold.
Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gemmell of South
Country Road, Brookhaven, spent a
recent vacation at Del Webb’s resortretirement
community in Sun City, Ariz.
Mrs. Walter Wilhelm of Blue Point
and her two daughters, Deborah
and Donna, and Mrs. Carol Tarver
of Patchogue and her son, Gene and
daughter, Stacey, spent the past month
on a motor trip sightseeing throughout
Florida, including two visits to
Disneyworld.
Midshipman Peter D. Squicciarini,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter J. Squicciarini
of N. Boylan Lane, Blue Point, has been
selected to train aboard Atlantic Fleet
submarines in August and September.
Scheduled port visits include New
London, Conn., Charleston, S.C., and
Norfolk, Va.
Mr. and Mrs. Albert DeRise of
Robinson Avenue, Medford, were the
guests of honor on Saturday evening
at a surprise 25th wedding anniversary
given them by their children, Diana,
Michelle, Albert, Barbara, Katherine
and Denise. A buffet and barbecue
were enjoyed by friends and relatives,
including out-of-town guests.
