Barbara Lynn Hill, a senior at
Patchogue-Medford High School, and
Seth Madell, a Patchogue-Medford
High School graduate, have been
notified that they are to be featured
in the eighth annual edition of “Who’s
Who Among American High School Students.”
A striped bass caught by Thomas
Fordham of Holtsville last Thursday
weighed in at 40 pounds. Mr. Fordham
said he made the catch at 9:15 p.m. at
Smith Point off the surf, on 20-pound
test line using bunker strip. Last year
he reeled in a 33-pound striper.
Miss Lorraine Roberto, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore Roberto
of Central Avenue, Patchogue, was
married to James D. Niemczyk, son
of Mr. and Mrs. James Niemczyk of
East Northport, July 6 at St. Francis de
Sales R.C. Church, Patchogue.
The Patchogue High School baseball
champs were feted at a recent awards
dinner sponsored jointly by the Kiwanis
and Lions clubs of Patchogue. Each
member was awarded a monogrammed
jacket in recognition of winning the
Suffolk County Championship this
year. Team members include Dave
Fried, John Bennett, Gary Weeks, Mike
Ambrosio, Ken Jones, Frank Furfaro, Bill
Klepp, Paul McFarlane, Al Willett, John
Wall, Ernie Geraci, Ron Leach and Ted
Ruggiero. Coach is George Ulrich.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Biscardi of Oak
Road, East Patchogue, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Regina,
to Joseph Murphy Jr., son of Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Murphy of Woodacres
Road, East Patchogue. Miss Biscardi is
a graduate of Seton Hall High School
and the Berkley-Claremont Secretarial
School. Mr. Murphy attended Bellport
High School and is employed by
Murphy Brothers Contractors.
Paul Neumann, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Richard Neumann of Munsell
Road, East Patchogue, just returned
from a one-week stay with friends at
Lake George. Their son, Stephen, is
spending one week at the Connecticut
Soccer School in Wallingford, Conn.
Constance Cummings, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John B. Cummings
of Point Road, Bellport, was recently
initiated into Pi Delta Epsilon, national
collegiate journalism fraternity. A
junior, she is a member of the Holcad,
the college newspaper.
Mrs. Andrew Olsen of Station Road
was a guest of Mrs. Malcolm Johnson
and Miss Evelyn Moger for lunch at
the Bellport Country Club, in honor of
Mrs. Olsen’s birthday.
The Misses Agnes and Louisa
Toronto, daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Michael V. Toronto of Champlin
Avenue, just returned home after
spending 22 days in Italy. They toured
all of Italy, including such cities as
Milan, Florence, Rome, Venice and the
Isle of Capri. They also toured many
cities of Sicily, including Taormina,
Palermo and Messina.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Perino Jr. and
daughter, Cathy, of North Howells
Point Road were weekend guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Strier of Gilford, N.Y.
While there, Mrs. Perino attended the
surprise bridal shower for her niece,
Miss Cathy Strier, on Saturday night.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Iadereste of Station
Road celebrated their third wedding
anniversary with a family gathering on Sunday.
Mrs. Donald Mackay of Bellport
announces the engagement of her
daughter, Patricia Sullivan, to Robert
Allen Pasculli, son of Mrs. Evelyn
Pasculli and the late Nicholas Pasculli
of Patchogue. Miss Sullivan is a student
at Bellport High School. Mr. Pasculli is
employed at Fairchilds of Commack.
The couple plans to be married next July.

Hugh J. Perryman, a resident of
Patchogue for well over 53 years,
celebrated his 89th birthday on July
10 at a party given in his honor by Dr.
and Mrs. Oscar Pelzman of Patchogue.
Among the guests were old-time
friends Alice Suga Waleshansky and
her husband Steve Waleshansky of Medford.
Two new members have been
inducted into the Patchogue Rotary
Club: Harvey Atlas, Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine, and Henry Sefarth, director
of the Internal Revenue Service. The
Patchogue Rotary now has 72 members.
John Valentino, a 1950 graduate
of Patchogue High School, has been
named vice president of operations at
Sorbus Ink, in King of Prussia, Pa. The
son of Mr. and Mrs. John Valentino
Sr., he played football for Patchogue
High and served aboard the nuclear
submarine Nautilus when it remained
submerged under the polar ice cap for
30 days. He has been with Sorbus since May 1964.
Sergeant Julius D. Kronbach, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Julius D. Kronbach of
South Ocean Avenue, Patchogue, has
reenlisted in the U.S. Air Force. Sgt.
Kronbach is a security policeman at
Griffiss Air Force Base with the 416th
Security Police Squadron. He attended
Patchogue High School. His wife,
Dorothy, is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Coffey of Myrtle Lane, Patchogue.
Happy couple are Mr. and Mrs. John
Yoos of Waverly Avenue, Patchogue,
who were married June 15 in Our Lady
of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church, Patchogue.
Mrs. Yoos is the former Miss Terri Lynn
Gray, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Gray of Waverly Avenue, Patchogue.
Mr. Yoos is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Yoos of Center Moriches.
Raymond Cicalese, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Eugene Cicalese of Munsell Road,
East Patchogue, celebrated his 12th
birthday on Sunday with a family
party in his honor.
Mr. and Mrs. Santo DiNaro of Munsell
Road announce the engagement of
their daughter, Janice, to Hal Brangees
of Grand Canyon, Ariz., formerly of
Brookhaven. Janice is a graduate of
Bellport High School and is employed
by Grand Canyon National Parks. Hal
is a graduate of Grand Canyon High
School and is also employed by the
National Parks. A wedding is planned for October.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Sparrow of
Rochester, N.Y., are visiting Mr.
Sparrow’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. Arnold
Sparrow of Leisurely Lane, Bellport,
and Mrs. Sparrow’s father, Mr. Donald
Moog of Durkee Lane, East Patchogue.
John Sailor, student representative,
and Arthur Cooley, faculty advisor of
the Ecology Club of Bellport Senior
High School, recently received
a national award from the Ecology
Council of America, sponsored by
Pepsi-Cola Company, in cooperation
with Keep America Beautiful.
The charity softball game between
the Bellport Rotary Club and the
South Country Lions Club ended with
Bellport Rotary losing and having to
donate $100 to charity.
Miss Pamela Love, daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. Robert Love of Bellport Lane,
was surprised at a bridal shower given
in her honor at the home of Mrs. Peter
Paige of Meadow Edge on Aug. 3. Many
beautiful gifts were received from
friends and relatives. Miss Love will
become the bride of Neil Terwilliger on Saturday.
Army Private First Class Preston
Butler Jr. of Carver Boulevard has
completed an eight-week small
arms repair course at the U.S. Army
Ordnance Center and School at
Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.

As part of its summer program,
the Patchogue Village Recreation and
Parks Department conducted Fire
Department Day last week at the Rider
Avenue park. Chief Joseph Rhodes
and 10 associates demonstrated
to the youngsters in the program
the equipment and techniques used
by members of the Patchogue Fire
Department. The seven-week parks
program will end today with the
annual talent show at the bandshell.
The Patchogue High School Class
of 1964 held a reunion recently at the
Knights of Columbus Hall. Committee
members for the reunion were Lora
Steckle Liguori, Lynn Schneider Rosen,
Paul Rosen, Sue Salinas Mischo and
Judi Dioguardo Speicher.
Knights of Columbus Council 725,
Patchogue, has elected Francis Derby
grand knight for 1974-75. Mr. Derby
has been a resident of the area for over
24 years and is a partner in the Derby
Brothers floor-covering business.
Master Sergeant William H. Thom,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh W. Thom of
Harris Street, Patchogue, is a member
of the top Class II Consolidated Base
Personnel Office in the U.S. Air Force
in Europe. He is assigned to Bitburg
AB, Germany, as career advisory
technician. The sergeant is a 1956
graduate of Patchogue High School.
Joseph P. Clancy of Patchogue was
recently promoted to platform officer
of the Rocky Point branch of Marine
Midland Tinker National Bank.
Four hundred Mets fans filled 10
buses for the Patchogue Chamber of
Commerce’s 11th annual Patchogue
Night with the Mets on Aug. 12. Besides
Edward M. Mitchell, executive director
of the chamber who coordinated the
event, bus leaders who helped keep
track of their passengers and counted
heads were Marvin Krauss, chairman
of the Merchants Division, Al Riberdy,
Dave Reese, Joe Balcarcel, Chet
Rhodes, Charlie Long, Tom McCullough,
Ron Pliszak and Phil Borzi.
Mike Recchio, 27, of Patchogue made
his first hole-in-one on the 100-yard
second hole at Sandy Pond Golf Course,
Riverhead, Sunday afternoon. The
shot was witnessed by Mike Mancuso,
Charles Mancuso and Pam Shumate.
Miss Terry A. Swyak, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. John Swyak of Fairfax Road,
East Patchogue, was named to the
Dean’s List with High Honors for the
spring semester at Mount Ida Junior College.
Nancy Briggs DiNaro of Brookhaven
is currently displaying works of
silversmithing and jewelry at the
Valley National Bank, 32 Station Road
in Bellport. The show will run for three weeks.
The Grucci family held their annual
picnic at Southaven Park in Yaphank on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke Williams of
South Country Road, Bellport, have
returned home after spending one
month in Vermont.
Houseguests for one week at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John Hart of
Peat Hole Lane are Mr. and Mrs. David
Karlen and children of Suffern, N.Y.,
formerly of South Country Road.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Remsburg of
South Howells Point Road just returned
home after spending one year in Paris, France.
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Allers of Bellport
Avenue, Bellport, announce the
engagement of their daughter, Patricia
Ann, to Daniel Maloney, son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Maloney of Holtsville. The
couple will be married on Aug. 16, 1975.
Miss Ellen Fink of Chapel Avenue,
Brookhaven, will be leaving on Aug.
24 to return to her sophomore year at
Tampa University, Fla.
Smiling happily were Mr. and Mrs.
Richard H. Kaufmann following their
recent marriage at Our Lady of the
Snow R.C. Church, Blue Point. The
bride is the former Miss Beverly Ann
Rosavitch of Edwards Lane, Blue Point.
The groom is from Pleasant Valley.

The Barne won the High School
Boys Softball League championship of
the Patchogue Village Recreation and
Parks Department by defeating Felice’s
Catering in a three-game series, 4-15,
11-9 and 8-7. All three games were
played at Shorefront Park last Friday
evening. Members of the championship
team included George Beck, Bob Matty,
Dino Bonacasa, Bob Lum, Gary Hanlon,
Lou Siegel, Ron Cockerill, Mike Flynn,
Kevin Rooney, Ted Ruggiero, Mike
Licciardello and Bob Hudasky. Sponsor
was Nick Paolillo.
Showing off a blue-claw crab recently
caught at the South Ocean Avenue Dock
in Patchogue was Frank Graviano of
Patchogue. The crab, which was caught
at 8:20 a.m. Sunday, measured 18 inches
from claw to claw.
Miss Carol E. Lomicky, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lomicky of East
Patchogue, was married to Thomas
J. Kurtz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Kurtz of Baltimore, Md., on Aug. 10 in
Baltimore.
Kenny Selg, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Harry Selg of Narragansett Avenue,
East Patchogue, won first prize for
catching the largest snapper at the
Center Moriches Snapper Derby
on Saturday, Aug. 24. Kenny’s prizewinning
snapper measured 8¼ inches
long. He was awarded a $50 savings
bond.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Perry Sr. and their
children, Frank and Allison of Country
Club Road, Bellport, have just returned
from a one-week trip to North Carolina
and Maryland. They visited relatives
and friends in La Grange, Goldsboro and
New Bern, N.C., and Hagerstown, Md.
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Corn of Cedar
Bluff Road entertained at a pool party
on Aug. 17 for the staff members of the
Emergency Room of the Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital and their families.
Their son, Gregory Asher Corn, just
returned home after spending six
weeks visiting his uncle, Gilbert Stone
of Paterson, N.Y., where he was a guest
and also doing apprentice work with
his uncle.
Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rene and their
children of Maple Avenue attended
the anniversary celebration of Mr. and
Mrs. Martin Schmidt and the birthday
of their daughter, Sybille, of Center
Moriches on Wednesday.
Just returning home after spending
one week in Acapulco and Mexico City
is Miss Carole Pils of General McLean
Drive.
Michael Nesi, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Anthony Nesi of Maple Avenue,
celebrated his 3rd birthday on Sunday
with a party in his honor for his friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McGrath of Otis
Lane entertained Otto Rino Maffey of
Mantova, Italy, for 10 days. Mr. Maffey
is with the Foreign Studies League.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hazlett of New
Lexington, Ohio, and Merle Thomas
of Bremen, Ohio, announce the
engagement of Miss Cheryl Ann
Thomas to Robert Roy Maggio Jr., son
of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Roy Maggio
of Bellport. Miss Thomas is on the
nursing staff at St. Elizabeth Medical
Center in Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Maggio
is a logistics and supply officer at
Wright Patterson Air Force Base in
Dayton. The wedding is planned for
next summer.
Navy Seaman Paul J. Santini, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Charles P. Santini
of Rowland Avenue, Blue Point, has
graduated from recruit training at the
Naval Training Center, San Diego. He
is scheduled to report to Operations
Specialist A School, Great Lakes, Ill.

among the 272 cadets who have just
completed a 14-day orientation and
military indoctrination course at the
State University of New York Maritime
College at Fort Schuyler, Bronx.
Long Islanders will be treated to
a unique concert featuring country
music singing star Dolly Parton when
the Long Island Rail Road’s Country
Music Whistle Stop Tour rolls through
Queens, Nassau and Suffolk counties
on Sept. 10. Miss Parton will perform
from a flatbed car on a special train
which will stop in Patchogue at noon.
Miss Jeannine Marie Cogliano,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John
Cogliano of Swan Lake Drive,
Patchogue, and Joseph Anthony
Juliano, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mario
Juliano of Hallock Road, Patchogue,
were united in marriage on Aug. 25 at
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church,
Patchogue. The bride is employed by
Marine Midland Bank and the groom
is an optician.
Marine Second Lieutenant James P.
Maggio, son of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent
J. Maggio of Rose Avenue, Patchogue,
has completed Environmental
Indoctrination School, which was part
of a total 18-months’ training leading
to his designation as a naval aviator.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tomassone of
South Summit Avenue, Patchogue,
announce the engagement of their
daughter, Nancy, to Timmy Gerard, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Gerard of Durkee
Lane, East Patchogue. No date has
been set for the wedding.

Durkee Lane, East Patchogue,

daughter, Nancy Jane, to Frank Kreamer
of Warrick, R.I., son of Mr. and Mrs.

of Bellport High School. A June 1975

John Neuton, a senior at Bellport
High School and the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Wilbur Neuton of South Country
Road, East Patchogue, is to be listed
in the eighth annual edition of Who’s
Who Among American High School
Students. He is active in band, jazz
rock, baseball and basketball, and
is a member of the National Honor
Society.
John Monaghan, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Monaghan of North
Howells Point Road, Bellport, recently
returned from a two-week stay in the
Canadian Rockies with his brother,
Michael Monaghan of New York City.
Jodi Ann Roys, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. David Roys of Champlin Avenue,
celebrated her 5th birthday on Aug.
28 with a party given in her honor.
Helping her to celebrate were her
brother, David, grandparents, Mr.
and Mrs. Jerome Rupolo, Wesley Pipe,
Michael Rupolo, Kenny Mapes, Brian and
Charlie Olin, Kim and Nicky Quarltere,

Mr. and Mrs. William Florio of
General McLean Drive have returned
home after spending six weeks aboard
their boat, June Fifth, at Davis Park.
Miss Wendlyn Smith, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Roland F. Smith of Station
Road, has returned to Liverpool, N.Y.,
after spending two weeks visiting her
parents. Miss Smith will be teaching
for the second year at the Liverpool
Elementary School.
Robert Diecidue, son of Mr. and Mrs.
I. Robert Diecidue of George Court,
left today for Ursinus College, Pa.,
where he will be majoring in pre-med
in his freshman year.
Tom Binnington and Kirk Roeser
have returned home after spending
one week at Lake Ontario, where
they participated in the National
Championship Regatta for catamaran
racing.
Miss Maryanne Pendergast of
New York City and Kevin Leonard of
England spent the weekend visiting
Miss Pendergast’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Joseph Pendergast of Maple
Street.
Two young girls and their Sunfish
got a free ride home from Bellport
Beach to Howells Point, Friday. It was
a stormy day as Caroline Woodwell
of Brookhaven and Kathy Kusa of
Bellport prepared to cross the bay.
The dockmaster, Frank Trotta, noticed
their preparations to leave and
persuaded them not to. He got hold of
two lifeguards and the captain of the
Leja Beach Ferry, who picked up the
Sunfish and placed it aboard. They
then sped on to Howells Point, where
the men dropped the Sunfish into the
water and waved to the girls as they
made for home. n
