Mr. and Mrs. William Potucek of South
Summit Avenue, Patchogue, became
grandparents and great-grandparents
within a few days last month. Their
son Roland and daughter-in-law Nancy
of Wading River became the parents
of a baby girl on Sept. 20 at Southside
Hospital. On Sept. 30 a baby girl was
born at Good Samaritan Hospital in
Phoenix, Ariz., to Bill and Nancy Perry,
grandson and granddaughter-in-law to
the Potuceks.
A special service at the
Congregational Church of Patchogue,
Sunday, honored Nancy A. Kana on
her retirement from church duties.
A reception followed, where Nancy
received many nice gifts.
The Patchogue-Medford girls tennis
team recorded their second victory
of the season, defeating Riverhead in
league competition last Wednesday.
Winners for the newly organized team
were Carol Ricciardello and Madelaine
Feindt, second and third singles,
respectively; Hope Adams and Ellen
Wagner, first doubles; Katy Drake and
Kathy Feindt, third doubles.
Celebrating their marriage are Mr.
and Mrs. Edward J. Seeley following
their wedding ceremony on Aug. 3 at
St. Joseph the Worker R.C. Church,
East Patchogue. The bride is the former
Miss Patricia Ann Scott of Patchogue.
Mrs. Catherine McNally of
Patchogue announces the engagement
of her daughter, Fawn Roberta, to
Charles Hartmann Jr., son of Mrs.
Ellen Hartmann and the late Charles
Hartmann of Moriches. Miss McNally
is a 1972 graduate of Patchogue High
School and Patchogue Beauty School.
Mr. Hartmann is a 1972 graduate
of William Floyd High School and
attended SUNY at Farmingdale. No
date has been set for the wedding.
Six seniors at Bellport High School
have been named Merit Program
commended students by the National
Merit Scholarship Corporation.
They are Elizabeth L. Bookless, Maria
A. Buck, Carlie R. Graves, Roger E.
Modon, Thomas E. Roeser and Kenneth
Shimamoto.
Recently returning from a two-week
vacation in England and Ireland was
Dr. Leigh Bell and his daughter, Shelly,
of Station Road, Bellport. While there
they visited many relatives and made
many sightseeing trips.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald Penny of Merritt
Island, Fla., have been spending 10
days with Mr. Penny’s mother, Mrs.
Harold Penny of Circuit Road.
Miss Gilda Patella, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Patella of Third Street,
received her license as a practical
nurse following her recent state exam.
Miss Patella is a 1973 Bellport High
School graduate and is employed at
Brookhaven Memorial Hospital.
The Hampton Avenue School children
held a clothing drive for the people
of Honduras. Three station wagons
brought the clothes to Patchogue,
where they were loaded onto a truck to
be taken to New York City. A ship was
leaving on Friday with clothing from
this area for the people of Honduras.
Mrs. Gil Gaison and her children,
Holly, Kevin, Russell and Fay of Country
Greens Drive, and Miss Janet Magurno
of East Patchogue spent Sunday in New
York City. They Visited Chinatown and
Central Park.
Richard Rogers, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Bernard Rogers of George Court,
celebrated his 7th birthday on Saturday
with a party in his honor. Helping
him to celebrate was his brother John,
Robert and Gary Wallen, Thomas Serpe,
and Patrick, Richard and Robert Sexton.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Regalmuto of North
Howells Point Road recently celebrated
their 25th wedding anniversary at the
Bellport Country Club. The highlight
of the evening was a bicycle-built-fortwo
given the couple by their children,
Mark, Joan, Jeanne and Susan.

A neighborhood gathering was held
on Oct. 7 at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas Newham Sr., Patchogue, for
Mr. and Mrs. Edward Kalinoski, who
left for Port Richard, Fla., on Tuesday.
Those who attended besides the guests
of honor were Mr. and Mrs. Charles
Long, Mrs. Meta Hildt, Mr. and Mrs. Tom
Healey, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Newham
Jr., Tommy and Pam, Mr. and Mrs. Mike
Wityshryn, Mrs. Julia Browne, Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Blake and son John, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph
Parker and Mr. and Mrs. Jendra. A very
enjoyable evening was had by all.
Kenneth Brown, son of Mr. and Mrs.
J.P. Brown of Debbie Lane, North
Patchogue, recently boarded a plane at
Kennedy Airport headed for London,
England. Kenneth will attend school
there at Bournemouth College, where he
will study the field of tourism. Kenneth
is a 1974 graduate of Patchogue-Medford High School.
Happy couple are Mr. and Mrs.
Laurence Walter Milian, who were
married recently at the First Baptist
Church of Patchogue. The bride is the
former Miss Gertrude Emily Vogt of Medford.
The Saxton Street football team
defeated Sagamore by a score of 33-13
on Saturday. Kenneth Bloom scored
one touchdown, while Dave Clemente
and Frank Geraci had two each. Extra
points were scored by Rich Sanniola and
Clemente. Quarterback Jimmy Smith
completed six passes to lead Patchogue
to victory. Other outstanding players
were Frank Massa and Frank Mistretta.
Mr. and Mrs. John Ell of Fuoco Street,
Bellport, attended the North Atlantic
Boat Show in Stamford, Conn., last
weekend and then motored to the Great
Adventure Land in Jackson, N.J.
Mr. and Mrs. Kundsen of South
Howells Point Road have returned
home after spending two years in the
Marshall Islands.
Mr. and Mrs. Jared Cumming
of General McLean Drive spent the
weekend of Oct. 5 with their son, James,
at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.
Spending the weekend with Mr. and
Mrs. John Ince of Browns Lane were
their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Neese and their children,
Jennifer and Rachel, of Somerset, N.J.
Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Dowd of
Thornhedge Road celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary on Saturday with
a buffet party. Their children and their
families were in attendance to help
them celebrate. The highlight of the
party was a 50-gun salute by Juan Del Castillo.
Airman Kevin M. Mosby, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Talmadge Mosby of
Carver Boulevard, Bellport, has been
assigned to Sheppard AFB, Texas, after
completing Air Force basic training.
Airman Mosby is a 1974 graduate of
Bellport High School.
Darin Zukowski, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Zukowski of Pine Street,
Brookhaven, celebrated his 8th birthday
on Oct. 7. His guests were Peter Craker,
Chris Indella, Henry Peters, Peter
Hauffer, Peter Kwaiskowski, Eric Sives,
Tom Dorning and Jay and Scott Runkel.
An evening party was also held for many relatives.

October 17
Frank A. Juzwiak, principal of
Patchogue-Medford High School,
recently presented a certificate of
recognition to Francis (Mac) McCoy,
president of the Class of ’76. He has
been selected to represent the high
school in the competition that will
eventually send two high school
students from New York State to
the U.S. Senate Youth Program in Washington, D.C.
John P. Bennett, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Paul G. Bennett of Peekskill Avenue,
Patchogue, has been included in the 8th
annual edition of “Who’s Who Among
American High School Students 1973-
74.” John is now a freshman at Suffolk Community College.
Baton twirling members of the
Spanish Society of Suffolk County
were honored recently at a party held
at the Four Sisters Community Center
in Patchogue. Medals and certificates
were given out by Mrs. Isabel
Rodriguez, founder and chairlady of
the board. Baton twirlers attending
included Janet Jimenez, Dialah Vargas,
Betsy Colon, Sheryl Goldberg, Frances
Suarez, Mary Ann Rivera, Katty and
Linda Morales, as well as Betsy
Sanches, the 1974 Spanish Society
queen.
Navy Sonar Technician First Class
Steven A. Trypuc, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Vincent J. Trypuc of Lee Avenue,
Patchogue, and whose wife, Pamela,
is the daughter of Mrs. Edith Mistler
of Barton Avenue, has returned to
Norfolk, Va., aboard the Navy’s newest
nuclear-powered guided missile
frigate, the USS California. While in
the Caribbean, the ship operated from
the U.S. Naval stations at Guantanamo
Bay, Cuba and Roosevelt Roads, Puerto
Rico. A former student of Patchogue
High School, he joined the Navy in March 1967.
In honor of Mr. and Mrs. William
C. Jenkins’ 40th wedding anniversary
last Sunday, a surprise cake and coffee
were served after the service at the
Congregational Church, Patchogue.
Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins reside in
Brookhaven and are formerly from Patchogue.
Seaman Recruit Ralph T. Perry, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph G. Perry of
Orchard Road, East Patchogue, has
graduated from recruit training at the
Naval Training Center, Great Lakes,
Ill. He is scheduled to report to the
Interior Communications A School,
San Diego, Calif. Mr. Perry is a 1973
graduate of Bellport High School.
Mr. and Mrs. William Patanjo Jr. of
Kreamer Street, Bellport, entertained
the bridal party and other guests
at their home after the wedding
rehearsal of their daughter, Miss
Barbara Patanjo and fiancé William
Cortes, on Saturday evening, Oct. 12.
Lynn Harris, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Harris of Country Greens
Drive, participated in the Eastern
Seaboard Twirling Contest on Sunday
held at East Islip High School. Lynn
received first place in the novice
military strutting competition and
first place in the beginners novice competition.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hoeffner of
Woodruff Street announce the arrival
of a baby boy, Timothy Edward, on
Oct. 4. Timothy was welcomed home
from Brookhaven Memorial Hospital
by his brother and sister, Christopher and Lisa.
A surprise 50th wedding
anniversary was celebrated Sept. 28
at the Patchogue Elks Lodge for Mary
and Raymond Briscoe of Bellport,
formerly of Patchogue. A toast was
given by Anna Briscoe of Patchogue,
matron of honor. Mr. and Mrs. Briscoe
are the parents of seven daughters
and one son, 14 grandchildren and five
great-grandchildren. Eighty friends
and relatives attended the affair.
This year Bellport acquired a new
addition to its sports program: girls’
tennis. In past years the high school
tennis courts were vacant during the
fall, but now there is always action on
the courts. Under the coaching of Mrs.
Donna Shelin, 11 girls were chosen
for the team. They are Liz Chrien,
Lisa Fassman, Mala Latt, Melissa
Monahan, Beth Murphy, Jill Rueger,
Joan Scordamaglia, Carol Stong, Linda
Seyfert, Debbie Tooker and Randy Wruck.

Mary Jo Gallo, daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. Sullivan A. Gallo of Shore
Drive, Patchogue, will play the role of
Jenny in “Three Penny Opera” to be
presented at Manhattanville College,
Purchase, N.Y., Nov. 16-24. Mary Jo
is a 1971 graduate of Patchogue High
School, where she studied music.
Staff Sgt. John F. Bartsch, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Julius F. Bartsch of River
Avenue, Patchogue, has been awarded
the Air Training Command master
instructor rating at Sheppard AFB,
Wichita Falls, Texas, in recognition
of two years of outstanding service
as a technical instructor in radiologic
technology at Sheppard. A 1965
graduate of Patchogue High School,
he attended the University of Alabama
and Midwestern University at Wichita Falls.
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Andersen Sr.,
of Bay Avenue, Patchogue, announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Doris, to Henry Mottl of Bay Avenue,
Patchogue. He is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. George Mottl. A wedding date
has been set for June 21, 1975.
Navy Fireman Recruit Michael S.
Macauley, son of Mrs. Joan Macauley
of Everett Street, Patchogue,
graduated from recruit training at
the Naval Training Center, Great
Lakes, Ill. He is scheduled to report
to Electrician’s Mate A School, Great Lakes, Ill.
The engagement of Leigh Ann Wells,
daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth E. Wells of
Doylestown, Pa., and the late John A.
Wells, to Kenneth A. Searles, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Richard A. Searles of Terry
Road, Patchogue, has recently been
announced. Miss Wells is a graduate
of Scotia-Glenville High School in
Scotia, N.Y., and will graduate from
the Rochester Institute of Technology
in June. Mr. Searles graduated from
Patchogue High School and is a 1974
graduate of RIT. The wedding will take
place on Sept. 20, 1975 in Doylestown.
Wesley James Pipe, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Frederick Pipe Jr., of Phyllis
Drive, Patchogue, celebrated his 2nd
birthday on Oct. 8. A party was given
for him at his home. Among his guests
were some of his cousins, Charles and
Brian Olin of Bellport, Jodi-Ann and
David Roys of East Patchogue and
Michael Rupolo of East Patchogue.
William H. Quarty Jr. of Terry Street,
Patchogue, has enlisted in the U.S.
Marine Corps. Private Quarty departs
for the Marine Corps Recruit Depot,
Parris Island, S.C., on Nov. 21. He
attended Patchogue-Medford High School.
Mr. and Mrs. William J. McDonald
Jr. of East Patchogue have announced
the engagement of their daughter,
Susan Jane, to John F. Haywood Jr.,
son of John F. Haywood of Pittsburgh,
Pa. Miss McDonald is a 1973 graduate
of Bellport High School and is
presently employed as a receptionist
for a Patchogue doctor. Mr. Haywood
is a graduate of Langley High School
in Pittsburgh and is now employed
by Rollic Inc. of Patchogue. A May
wedding is planned.
Girls behind the scenes, one of
them from Bellport, will back up the
afternoon trysts of a would-be Don
Juan in Neil Simon’s “The Last of the
Red-Hot Lovers,” to be presented Nov.
13-15 in the Little Theatre of Centenary
College for Women, Hackettstown,
N.J. Magda DeJesus, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jose DeJesus of Bellport
Avenue, Bellport, will be in charge of
costumes for the production. She is
currently a senior at the college.
Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Potter of
Rogers Avenue, Bellport, announce
the engagement of their daughter,
Jane Alison, to Stuart William Graham,
son of Mr. and Mrs. William Graham
of Fitchburg, Mass. Miss Potter, a
graduate of Bellport High School,
is currently attending Harvard
University’s Graduate School of
Education. Mr. Graham, a graduate
of Harvard Law School, is associated
with the firm Palmer and Dodge in
Boston, Mass. A June wedding is planned.
A graduate of recruit training for
women at the Naval Training Center
in Orlando, Fla., is NSA Roberta J.
Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Robert J. Smith of Yaphank. She is
now attending Personnelman School
in Florida and is later scheduled to go to Iceland.

Chairman of the year award was
recently presented to Robert F. Logan
of the Patchogue Kiwanis Club in
recognition for the outstanding job he
has done in coordinating the activities
of the various high school Key Clubs in
the Suffolk East division.
Helene Markowitz, a senior at
Patchogue-Medford High School,
was recently notified that she is to be
featured in the eighth annual edition
of Who’s Who Among American
High School Students, 1973-74. She is
the daughter of Samuel and Loretta
Markowitz of North Prospect Avenue, Patchogue.
Airman James P. O’Brien, son of
Mrs. Elaine O’Brien of Sipp Avenue,
Medford, has been assigned to Sheppard
AFB, Texas, after completing Air Force
basic training. He has been assigned
to the Technical Training Center at
Sheppard for specialized training in
civil engineering.
Graham M. Smith recently received
a Doctor of Philosophy degree in
chemistry from the State University
of New York at Buffalo. The son of Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Smith of Patchogue,
he was graduated from Patchogue High
School and Adelphi Suffolk College.
Twin stars selected by Patchogue
Raider Coach Marty Hoctor for their
outstanding efforts in recent football
games are Jeff Wittneben and Jeff
Ellis. Wittneben was team MVP in
the contest with Ward Melville. Ellis
won the honor a week later against
Huntington. Plaques were awarded the
players by the Bank of North America.
Marine Pfc. Craig J. Fiebe, son of Mr.
and Mrs. George Fiebe of John Street,
Patchogue, reported for duty at the
Marine Corps Base, Camp Lejeune,
N.C. A former student of Patchogue-
Medford High School, he joined the
Marine Corps in February 1974.
St. Francis de Sales R.C. Church in
Patchogue was the scene of the wedding
on Sept. 21 of Miss Mary Jean Caminiti
of Patchogue and John A. Henriksen
of Islip. A buffet and reception for
160 guests was held at the Bellport
Country Club. The bride is employed
by District Court in Hauppauge. The
groom is employed by Chelsea Imports of Smithtown.
Mr. and Mrs. Carmine Minardi of
East Patchogue have announced the
engagement of their daughter, Donna
Marie, to Michael J. Murnane, also of
East Patchogue. Miss Minardi is a 1973
graduate of Bellport High School and
is presently employed as a salesgirl
for Genovese Drugs. Mr. Murnane
graduated from Bellport High School
in 1973 and is now employed with Gull
Airborne in Smithtown. A wedding
is planned for Nov. 9, 1975 at the
Huntington Town House.
Mr. and Mrs. William Payne of
Bieselin Road, Bellport, announce
the arrival of their first son, William
Andrew, born on Oct. 14. He was
welcomed home from Brookhaven
Memorial Hospital by his sister, Trudi.
Bellport Senior High School held
its fifth annual senior-faculty football
game Oct. 26. A 7-0 win for the faculty
tightened their lead of five wins and
no losses over senior classes from 1971-
75. Following the game, the student
council sponsored a carnival. Booths
made by 16 school clubs were built
on the soccer field, offering lollipops,
French food, root beer, games and a
dunking machine.
Winners of the Bellport Chamber
of Commerce’s Halloween window
decorating contest were presented
with their prize money on Tuesday
by chamber member John P. Zauner.
The winners were: First place, Harmke
Oversluizen and Arianne Van Vleit;
second place, Kelly Lockwood; third
place, Maureen Ventrice and Nina
Tuzza. All are students of the Bellport Middle School.
