Different day, same old story for the Suffolk CC-Selden men's basketball team, which extended college basketball's longest active winning streak to 55 games yesterday with a 113-73 win at Queensborough CC.

Selden (3-0, 1-0 Region XV) has won 67 of 68 and has two Division III national junior-college championships.

Alvin Dennis scored 18 of his team-high 20 points in the first half, and all five starters scored in double figures.

"I expect to win every game," said Dennis, a sophomore and one of six returning players from last season. "I'm a really bad loser."

Using their athleticism and size, the Clippers controlled the tempo from the opening tip. They led 58-37 at halftime and after a 20-2 run to open the second half, had an insurmountable 78-39 lead.

Alex McLean, a 6-7 center who transferred to Selden from Nassau CC, dominated down low, grabbing 15 rebounds along with 10 points and two blocks.

"Our philosophy is to try and run teams out of the gym early," Dennis said. "A lot of teams have trouble matching up with us."

Sheldon Minnus scored 21 for Queensborough (0-5, 0-3).

Selden led by as many as 45 and hit the 100-point mark with 5:20 left.

Just another day for the Clippers, who will go for win No. 56 Tuesday at Kingsborough.

"We just come out and play to win every game," said sophomore Anton Cheese, who had 15 points. "Our goal is to win a national championship."
