Insurance Update
1.
Effective January 1, 2014 CMS (Center Medical
Services) will have a new regulation that could
effect prompt availability of prescriptions to
South Country Medicare primary retirees.
If a Medical
Provider submits a prescription for a Medicare
primary patient, the patient MUST REQUEST the
prescription be filled before the supplier can
do so.
Without this
request the prescription can not be filled by
the pharmacy even though the prescription was
received from the Medical provider.
2. Effective March 1,
2014 a new pharmacy administrator, Catamaran,
will replace OptumRX. All refill capacities
should transfer in the transition except:
A. Expired
prescriptions
B. Prescriptions that
can't be transferred by law
This change is in administrator, with no change
in benefits.
